Clear-Com Unveils Major Updates at IBC 2025
At IBC 2025, Clear-Com showcased significant updates across its Arcadia, HelixNet, FreeSpeak, and Eclipse lines — further strengthening its reputation as a leader in intercom innovation.
Arcadia
Earlier this year, Clear-Com introduced the ability to add their V-Series IrisX matrix panels directly to the ever-growing Arcadia platform. Arcadia 4.0 supported the intercom panels connecting over their own IP standard to the system.
At IBC, Clear-Com were demonstrating Arcadia 4.1, which isn’t due until the new year. This early showing gave us the chance to see what’s coming down the line. Two features stood out: the ability to create and assign IFBs, bringing more matrix capabilities to Arcadia, and the ability to connect V-Series IrisX panels via AES67 to the Arcadia base.
Tyrell’s Take: Connecting V-Series panels over the internet or LAN with zero latency — combined with IFB support — positions Arcadia as more than just a partyline system. It’s becoming a true matrix solution.
HelixNet 4-Channel Belt Pack
It’s been a while since we’ve seen new hardware for the HelixNet platform, but this year Clear-Com announced a new 4-key belt pack. Available from November, it connects over PoE or the legacy Powerline 3-pin XLR connection.
The belt pack features four assignable keys, each with its own volume control. To benefit from all four keys you need to be using this belt pack with Arcadia version 4. It can also be used with the original HelixNet Master Station, but in that case it is limited to 2-key mode.
Tyrell’s Take: It’s great to see Clear-Com keeping HelixNet relevant and supporting both modern PoE connectivity and the legacy 3-pin XLR format.
FreeSpeak II Price Reductions & Promo
It’s a rare day when a manufacturer reduces the cost of their products, but Clear-Com have done exactly that. They have reduced the cost of the FreeSpeak II Base 5 and Base 25 systems, while also introducing a new 10-user FreeSpeak II.
This now brings the FreeSpeak product range to:
FreeSpeak Base II Base 5 – 5 wireless users, reduced in cost
FreeSpeak Base II Base 10 – brand new system supporting 10 wireless users
FreeSpeak Base II Base 25 – 25 wireless users, reduced in cost

Eclipse EHX 14
The most significant release that Clear-Com announced is with their Eclipse Matrix EHX 14 software, which introduces full SMPTE 2022-7 capability for both the E-IPA interface cards and V-Series IrisX panels. This allows every user panel and each IP card in the matrix to connect to both a red and blue network.
Tyrell’s Take: SMPTE 2022-7 capability, alongside Clear-Com’s original trunking, makes for the most redundant intercom network on the market.

25 Years of Tyrell
IBC 2025 wrapped up earlier this week, and as I walked the halls of the RAI, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much this industry has evolved—and how Tyrell has evolved with it. This year isn’t just another IBC for us; it marks 25 years of Tyrell. That’s a milestone I’m incredibly proud of, and this show was the perfect backdrop to pause, take stock, and look forward.
What Stood Out at IBC 2025
IBC this year felt like a more focused version of the conversations we’ve been having for a while. AI was everywhere—not just as a buzzword, but in practical tools. From automated QC to metadata tagging to speeding up workflows, AI is becoming a core part of production rather than just an add-on.
Cloud was another dominant topic, but the tone has shifted. We’re not debating if cloud is the future anymore—we’re figuring out how to make it work. Hybrid models, multi-cloud setups, and sustainable workflows are the real conversations now. These aren’t speculative “what if” ideas; they’re real-world problems teams are solving every day.
For me the highlight of IBC wasn’t a single stand-out announcement or piece of tech—it was the people. There’s no substitute for bumping into a customer you’ve known for years, catching up with a manufacturer face-to-face, or having those impromptu conversations that never happen over Teams. You pick up so much more in person—asking tough questions, getting candid answers, and swapping experiences over a coffee or beer. That human connection is what makes IBC special, and for Tyrell, it’s what makes these events worth every minute.
25 Years of Change
That human connection has been at the heart of Tyrell since day one. When we started in 2000, the industry looked very different. Hollywood and broadcasters still held all the keys. Content creation and distribution were tightly controlled, and the workflows were rigid and expensive. Fast forward 25 years and those walls are well and truly gone. We’re creating more content than ever before, for more platforms than we could have imagined back then.
Tyrell has grown up with that change. Over the years, we’ve had four offices, three brand evolutions, and five websites. We started out supplying equipment—shipping boxes and building systems. But as technology shifted, so did we. Today, we’re proud to be a trusted media technical consultant. We help our customers design, optimise, and manage their entire media pipelines, increasingly cloud-first but always tailored to their needs.
That ability to adapt—to see what’s next and pivot towards it—has been key to staying relevant for a quarter of a century.
Milestones That Moved Us Forward
When I think about the industry moments that shaped our journey, a few really stand out:
- 2000 – The Internet: Broadband put content distribution on a global scale.
- 2007 – The iPhone: Content creation and consumption became truly mobile.
- 2010 – AWS Media Services: Cloud computing became a real option for media workflows.
- 2013 – H.265: Compression breakthroughs made scalable streaming possible.
- 2019 – The Streaming Wars: The race for audience attention reshaped content investment.
Now, in 2025, AI feels like the next milestone. It’s not hype anymore—it’s happening.
Our Story Continues
On a personal level, Tyrell has been the perfect outlet for both my technical curiosity and my creative instincts. This industry has given me the chance to build a business that satisfies both—and for that, I’m grateful.
And of course, none of this would have been possible without the Tyrell team. To all the Tyrell’ers past and present: thank you. You’ve made this journey not only possible, but enjoyable.

Tyrell Cloud Expands Capabilities with ConnectStream and Intelligent Sensing
Tyrell Cloud continues to expand its capabilities with two powerful updates: ConnectStream, enabling seamless, low-latency SRT streaming directly from the cloud, and Workstation Intelligent Sensing Technology, providing real-time visibility into workstation usage to prevent interruptions during active editing sessions.
ConnectStream: SRT Streaming from Tyrell Cloud
It’s now possible to stream SRT directly out of Tyrell Cloud. With Tyrell Cloud ConnectStream, users can quickly deploy a dedicated SRT-capable stream channel with up to two endpoints (expandable as needed). This enables any Tyrell Cloud Workstation to deliver an SRT output stream to two independent SRT decoding applications or hardware decoders.
For example, editors can stream their Adobe Premiere Pro timeline output directly to an on-premise physical video monitor. By leveraging the SRT protocol, ConnectStream overcomes unpredictable internet delays, packet jitter, and latency with adjustable, user-defined latency buffers. Like other Tyrell Cloud services, ConnectStream SRT channels can be fully scheduled for flexible operation.
Workstation Intelligent Sensing Technology
Tyrell Cloud Control now provides real-time visibility into workstation status. When a workstation is in use, it is marked as being in an Active Session, allowing administrators to see a clear overview of deployed resources.
The key benefit of this Intelligent Sensing Technology is that Tyrell Cloud’s scheduling system will not shut down a workstation that is actively in use, ensuring uninterrupted workflows and preventing accidental shutdowns during active editing sessions.

At IBC 2025, swXtch.io showcased a suite of new software solutions designed to simplify broadcast networking, enhance performance, and bring multicast to both on-prem and cloud workflows.
Why Multicast Matters
Multicast remains a cornerstone of broadcast workflows—powering live video delivery, contribution feeds, and real-time collaboration.Multicast is actively avoided by network designers due to the complexity of management and in the cloud, multicast is just not supported. Or at least this is what any network or cloud engineer will tell you. swXtch.io enables multicast network traffic on networks that were never designed to support it.
Broadcasters have relied on workarounds such as unicast replication, CDN fan-out, or custom overlays. While effective in some scenarios, these methods consume huge amounts of bandwidth, introduce latency, and add reliability risks and operational overhead.
swXtch.io’s software-first approach changes this. By building high-performance network layers in software, swXtch.io makes advanced features like multicast accessible—without requiring broadcasters to overhaul their existing infrastructure.
groundSwXtch
The latest release of groundSwXtch extends this software-defined innovation to on-premise environments. Delivered as a software-only solution, groundSwXtch creates a virtual high-performance network on top of physical infrastructure.
With groundSwXtch, customers can:
- Transport multicast, unicast, SRT, and RIST across facilities or between sites

Object Mount
Storj announced the acquisition of Object Mount at IBC 2024, and this year it returned to IBC 2025 with two vital new features for production workflows. But first — what is Object Mount?
Edit, Conform, Master…
Object storage, whether cloud or on-prem, was not originally designed for editing. Over the past few IBCs, several solutions have emerged to make object storage suitable for production workflows. Object Mount stands out by enabling real-time editing across all object storage types — whether on-premise Object Matrix or cloud platforms like AWS S3, Microsoft Azure, and Storj’s distributed network. Collaborators can share credentials, allowing direct editing no matter where the files reside.
Unlike other solutions, Object Mount does not wrap, shard, or alter files. It presents the storage as a standard file system to your workstation, allowing your favorite NLE to work directly with the file while keeping it accessible to other workflows.
What’s new for IBC 2025?
Network-Based Cache – You can now designate a network volume to store streamed cache. Any file cached for instant access becomes available to all users on the network.
File Pinning – You can identify which files to pin to a local or network cache volume. Normally, Object Mount’s cache operates on a first-in, first-out basis, but pinned files remain persistent and are not cleared when newer files arrive.
These updates make Object Mount an even more powerful and flexible tool for collaborative, production-ready workflows.
Virtual Compute
Finally, Storj announced plans for virtual CPU and GPU compute on its distributed network. For Tyrell, this is particularly exciting: it will enable cheaper compute than AWS, with zero egress fees and ultra-low latency access to Storj storage. This development extends Storj’s vision beyond storage into high-performance compute, opening new possibilities for media workflows.
