At IBC 2025, swXtch.io showcased a suite of new software solutions designed to simplify broadcast networking, enhance performance, and bring multicast to both on-prem and cloud workflows.
Why Multicast Matters
Multicast remains a cornerstone of broadcast workflows—powering live video delivery, contribution feeds, and real-time collaboration.Multicast is actively avoided by network designers due to the complexity of management and in the cloud, multicast is just not supported. Or at least this is what any network or cloud engineer will tell you. swXtch.io enables multicast network traffic on networks that were never designed to support it.
Broadcasters have relied on workarounds such as unicast replication, CDN fan-out, or custom overlays. While effective in some scenarios, these methods consume huge amounts of bandwidth, introduce latency, and add reliability risks and operational overhead.

groundSwXtch
The latest release of groundSwXtch extends this software-defined innovation to on-premise environments. Delivered as a software-only solution, groundSwXtch creates a virtual high-performance network on top of physical infrastructure.
With groundSwXtch, customers can:
- Transport multicast, unicast, SRT, and RIST across facilities or between sites
- Enable high availability multipath flows (ST 2022-7) for redundancy
- Add optional lossless tunnelling to the cloud

SRTx
swXtch.io also launched SRTx, a next generation SRT Gateway set to replace existing solutions in the market. SRTx can distribute (fan out) SRT streams to any available listener either on-premise or in the cloud. What sets it apart is its flexibility: inputs can be SRT, unicast, multicast, or RIST.
By combining multi-protocol support with swXtch.io’s proven cloudSwXtch technology, SRTx provides broadcasters with a powerful, future-proof gateway for contribution and distribution workflows.
cloudSwXtch
The original swXtch.io product, cloudSwXtch, continues to evolve. New updates include:
- A flexible per-flow licensing model, in addition to annual subscriptions
- Integration with Bridge Technologies’ VB220 IP probing software, enabling monitoring of up to 260 IP multicasts with features such as performance timelines, thumbnails, SCTE marker detection, and QoS reporting .
These enhancements give customers greater control over deployment costs while adding deep observability across both cloud and on-prem networks.
AI Enhancements
At IBC 2025, swXtch.io also introduced AI-powered network management tools. Using LLM-driven prompts, users can configure, monitor, and report on complex broadcast networks with greater efficiency. These AI tools reduce the manual effort typically required for configuration, while providing clear, actionable insights into network performance.
