New technology boosts performance for high-resolution post-production and flexible workflows
EGG Post Production & VFX, one of Ireland’s leading post-production facilities, has expanded its capabilities with a significant storage upgrade from EditShare. This investment supports EGG’s growing demand for high-performance workflows, including 4K and beyond colour grading, while improving remote collaboration and workflow flexibility.
The project was delivered in collaboration with Tyrell, EditShare’s long-time channel partner in Ireland, who worked closely with EGG and EditShare to scope, install, and support the new system.
Founded in 2004 by editors Gary Shortall and Gareth Young, EGG has built a strong reputation for its award-winning editing, finishing, sound, and VFX services. The company delivers content for major Irish, UK, and US broadcasters, as well as audiences worldwide, making reliability and efficiency in their storage infrastructure critical to their operations.
To meet these demands, EGG has integrated EditShare’s 96TB NVMe and EFS300 256TB storage solutions, replacing an older system that could no longer support the increasing technical requirements of high-resolution workflows. The upgrade consolidates all offline, online, grading, and VFX under a single vendor, improving overall efficiency and project management.
One of the most valuable additions to EGG’s workflow is EditShare’s Swift Link technology, which allows creative teams to access media and work on projects from any location. As productions increasingly demand flexible, hybrid workflows, Swift Link ensures that EGG’s editors, colorists, and VFX artists maintain seamless productivity, whether on-site or remote. The ability to securely stream high-resolution content without performance compromise has been transformative for EGG’s post-production pipeline.

Clear-Com’s EQUIP Boosts Ride Efficiency, Safety, and Communication at Merlin Theme Parks
Clear-Com recently celebrated the successful implementation of its EQUIP intercom system at Merlin Theme Parks, enhancing ride operations, safety, and guest satisfaction through improved team communication. As a long-standing trusted technology partner, Tyrell introduced Merlin to Clear-Com’s EQUIP system, a hands-free, full-duplex intercom solution designed to streamline real-time conversations between ride operators, loaders, and platform staff. From the outset, Tyrell worked closely with both Merlin and Clear-Com to scope the technical requirements, facilitate product demonstrations, and ensure each deployment was tailored to the unique footprint of individual attractions.

- An average improvement of 8-9% across multiple rides, one of the largest gains from recent operational changes.

Clear-Com has partnered closely with Tyrell throughout the rollout, customizing the solution for each attraction’s unique needs. “Tyrell has been instrumental in making this project a success,” said Ben Turnwell, EMEA Regional Sales Manager. “They have been involved at every stage, from technical planning to on-site support and aftercare.”
“At each new attraction, Clear-Com visits our site, understands our operation, and makes bespoke recommendations on transceiver placement and cabling routes to optimize performance,” explained O’Connor.
A recent example is the rollout of the new Hyperia coaster at Thorpe Park, where Clear-Com’s system ensured flawless communication from day one, contributing to peak throughput performance.
“Clear-Com has been great all the way through, providing excellent aftercare support. There’s always someone on the phone when we need to discuss ideas or troubleshoot. They consistently put boots on the ground to see us and understand our needs firsthand,” O’Connor added.

Additional EditShare capacity for long-time user
Boston, MA – 2nd December 2024, EditShare, the technology leader that enables storytellers to create and manage collaborative workflows at every stage from storyboard to screen, has expanded Inflight Dublin’s storage capacity by adding further high-powered EFS nodes. The new appliances, supplied through EditShare’s channel partner Tyrell, provide an additional half petabyte of capacity to the company’s infrastructure.
Inflight Dublin has been a market leader in providing content for Inflight Entertainment (IFE) for 40 years. Many airlines worldwide now rely on it for packages of movies, television shows and games tailored to the needs of their passengers. EditShare has provided its content library and management facilities since 2011.
“We curate and package everything that is needed for IFE: video, audio, subtitles and metadata,” said Pat Nolan, Director of IT and Information Security for Inflight Dublin. “We need agility to combine content with the right audio and subtitle languages, in the right formats for the IFE equipment on the client’s planes, quickly, accurately and securely.”

Inflight utilises a tiered content storage strategy to optimise its production and archiving processes. This strategy includes EFS
production storage, EFS nearline storage, and long-term archival solutions.
EFS production nodes deliver high-performance storage for fast content creation, EFS nearline storage, serves as an intermediate parking storage solution. Upon project completion and delivery, all content is securely archived using EditShare ARK.
Content flows and access are managed through EditShare FLOW software, which also provides the integration point for Inflight Dublin’s in-house developed software tools for automatically creating deliverables. Embedded in FLOW is EditShare Guardian, for comprehensive analytics and audit trailing, and combined with EditShare’s inherent security, provides assurance to the very high standards demanded by the company’s suppliers, which include major movie and television studios.
